Relative questions often asked: Why are we here? What’s life all about? And, what is the meaning of it all?
These are just a few of many questions we often ask ourselves when desiring to know our purpose and significance in life. We are all born with a purpose, we all possess the power for greatness, and we can create a successful and meaningful life through the service that fulfills the reason for which we are here on earth. We were created with purpose, for a PURPOSE.
Created With Purpose
Living life without knowing that you have a purpose, you possess the power for greatness, and that you can live a successful and meaningful life is like being a ship, out on the sea without a sail and no wind; you’re merely existing and going nowhere. For those who do not know why they are here, their mission is to find out; and for those who do know, your mission is to set sail on your charted course.
Psychological stumbling blocks that are often over blown, can hinder our ability to pursue our dreams, our passion- ultimately leading us to fulfilling the purpose for which we are called to in life.
We become content in our careers and life in general and decide to settle right where we are. Because we find ourselves being challenged; faced with adversity and a few stumbling blocks along the way and the uncertainty of further exploring our passion for fear that it may lead us to an unfulfilling future, we convince ourselves that where we are is it and decide, I’m not moving any further.
You were created for a purpose. When the Creator God knitted you together in your mother’s womb, He gave you a purpose. This is important because life without purpose is meaningless. Don’t confuse busyness or achievement or success with purpose. Some are driven to think “my purpose in life is to get rich.” Well, that’s durable, but not significant, and you may miss fulfilling your God-intended purpose. Others drift from day to daydreaming about retirement and miss out on making today count. Some imagine some better situation when life will be good and miss what God has for them today.
Your purpose is with people. Even though I can’t tell you God’s specific purpose and plan for your life, I can say with certainty that you were created for relationship with Him, and that you were designed to impact the lives of others in a unique way, in the way that God has planned. What’s burning in your heart? Get rid of the psychological stumbling blocks and embrace what you know to be real in your heart.
Pray for clarity; wait for the answer. You will receive direction. Then get up and get going; doing what it is that you know is burning in your heart. Doing that which not only has the potential to bring you money, but also joy to you and others. Life will evolve naturally-you listening to your inner voice and pursuing what you have come to be so passionate about. You, being the answer, the solution to a problem waiting to be solved.
The Power of Greatness
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. once said “Our greatness comes when we allow ourselves to be used for a purpose greater than ourselves, to be of service to other.”
It is about championing others. Seeing others as already being great. It’s about seeing the possibility that others are. Listening for what is missing, that if put into place would have them step into their own power, their own greatness, their life purpose. It’s about having ears to hear and eyes to see problems beyond our own and realizing there is a solution, and I just might be it.
What we want is usually of little value when compared with what others need and are ready to receive. The key is to work toward being efficient, effectual, influential, and fruitful. You must use your ideals, unique talents, gifts, and abilities as they call out to you, to help change the world in the time and space where you find yourself. Yes, simply in the world around you. That small space, where you can have great impact.
A Successful Life & Meaningful Life
So many heroes and sheroes have lived their lives being used for a purpose far greater than themselves. Not in search for frame or fortune for themselves, but success in serving others, by expressing and expanding their geniuses, wanting more for others than for themselves.
True success will come once you surrender to the dream, the passion and let it take you to the next place in life. True success will come once you shift your focus from trying to be successful to giving of yourself to service. At such time you will discover that your work and life will have more meaning.
When we live our lives focused only on how God will meet our needs and satisfy our wants, we lose sight of PURPOSE —to be a blessing to others wherever we go. When we see our lives making a difference in someone else’s life —that will make life more abundant. Embrace the calling as it echoes your name. Purse with passion your purpose in life.
Light is a beautiful thing when it shines in darkness.
